Item Description

MAKO Spearguns Freedive Gear Bag

The brand new MAKO Freedive Gear Bag has been redesigned from the ground up!

  • First, we dramatically increased the strength and thickness of the material, webbing and stitching.
  • We also increased the strength of the zippers and zipper pulls.
  • We also made it more user friendly with 2 separate compartments, as follows:
    • Compartment 1: Main compartment for storing wetsuits, floats, floatlines and all other dive gear.
    • Compartment 2: Smaller side compartment is perfect for your Go Pro cameras and/or personal effects such as wallet, keys, license, etc.

The Freedive Gear Bag is water resistant and measures 41 inches long x 17 inches wide x 12 inches tall.

Helpful Hint: If traveling on an airline, or in remote areas, we recommend using both MAKO gear bags (MAKO Freedive Gear Bag and the MAKO Ballistic Mesh Dive Bag).

As shown in the photo to the right, the gear is stored in the Ballistic Mesh Dive Bag which is placed zipper size down inside the Freedive Gear Bag. Notice the wetsuit and float is facing up with the smaller and the “easier to grab” items are hidden from view.

Also note that to access the gear, the inside Ballistic Mesh Gear Bag must be pulled out in order to access the zipper, thus further reducing the possibility of theft. Sure, the mesh could be cut with a knife, but that would bring attention to the theft and it is much less likely.

Another advantage of the two bag system is that the Freedive Gear Bag can used to store personal items as well and be left in the hotel room, while the lighter, mesh bag can be used specifically for the boat or beach dives.

Our Ballistic Mesh Dive Bag fits nicely inside the Freedive Gear Bag when traveling so contents can't be seen (easily taken).

    Awesome shore bag

This bag works well for what is is. Two pockets to store two sets of fins so you can keep your spare with you. A great supplement to a mesh boat bag. Also fits everything but the gun for an outing. NO complaints and will recommend to friends.

This bag is great! We each have one and use it in conjunction with the Ballistic Mesh Dive Bag to haul all our gear. Plenty of room for gear and swim/dive clothes. It is super durable and easily tolerates the airline baggage handlers. A couple of small holes that developed from being on the conveyor belts are easily patched with stick on nylon patches for camping gear.

    My new all -in -one

Quality is very good, not that cheap material. So far I got Two 7mm suits, 42" gun (diagonally placed to fit in the bag), two interchangeable long fins, one Belt, 20 lbs weights, snorkel set, and my floater in the bag and I got some more room left.

Awesome bag but I don't trust the plastic clips on the shoulder strap. Holds all my gear.

strong bag but too large. oversize for check in

Posted by stefano giovannini giovannini on Mar 23rd 2020

The construction is very strong, and the fins compartments are great on the sides. But the bag is huge, most likely oversize as checked in baggage for commercial flights. I wish there was a smaller 30/32 inch version. I have 30" and 24" fins, and I use a pneumatic speargun that is about 65cm/30" long (but power is equivalent to about a 90 cm band gun (which are actually longer), so my kit is more compact. I also wish it would come in a lighter color, at least inside, like yellow, as it makes it easy to see stuff. I mostly use it as a storage bag for my gear. This can probably carry 2 or 3 people's gear. So this is good if you have a pick up truck, SUV, a boat. A smaller version would be welcome, maybe with backup straps, like modern duffels.
