Item Description

Freedive Fins (Pure Carbon Fiber) Blades Only

The MAKO Spearguns 100% Pure Carbon Fiber Freedive Fin Blades will give you better propulsion with much less effort than you ever imagined. Extremely durable, these pure carbon freedive fins are made using a hand laminated process, along with a vacuum mold that yields an outstanding ratio of energy to propulsion.

Available by themselves (freedive fin blades only), or buy them with our Competition Freediver Foot Pockets and save! Because we make our own foot pockets and because we sell direct to you, the diver, nobody can match our pricing and the quality of our foot pockets is extremely well known throughout the diving community.

Swapping / Upgrading Your Fin Blades

Whether you're swapping out your black fiberglass blades for camo, or upgrading your composite blades to fiberglass or pure carbon, it's a straight forward process when you know the technique.

NO GLUE!

That's right - NO GLUE! The MAKO Spearguns Competiton Freediver Foot pockets require no glue when installing blades. You can easily remove, change and re-install your fin blades quickly and easily.

Check out the video above to see how easy it is to swap your fin blades.

Because the fin blades are NOT GLUED IN, you can also have multiple foot pockets in different sizes and move your fin blades to whichever foot pockets you want. You can't do that with foot pockets that require gluing.

Specifications:

We back these blades with a 1 year warranty to the original purchaser on materials and craftsmanship.

  • Blades measure 80cm long x 20cm wide with a 20 degree angle.
  • Available in soft and medium stiffness.
  • One pair of pure carbon fin blades.

Note: If you have any questions regarding size, blade length or blade stiffness selection, please feel free to call us. We are happy to help.

Our blades are sold by the pair. If you ever lose a fin, MAKO will sell just one fin (or blade). Being so heavily invested in unmatched customer service, we are one of the only companies that offer this.

Selecting the proper fin stiffness:

In selecting the proper fin stiffness, there are many variables to take into consideration such as a your weight, strength, type of diving and conditions in which you'll be diving. The most standard method is selecting fin stiffness based on the your weight and strength.

Because a softer blade is becoming the preferred blade among freedivers, our soft blades are by far the most popular. For very strong divers and big guys, we also carry a medium stiffness.

SOFT blades are recommended for small to medium size divers and are the most popular.

MEDIUM blades are for larger divers with strong legs.

    Awesome fins!

Posted by Glen on Dec 13th 2019

I love these fins! I have to admit I pulled off the mako logo sticker and they look even better :D. A huge step up from the plastic ones. It is hard to install them due to the rubber rail being very snug in the footpocket channels so I wouldn't consider these removable anymore. I could remove the plastic ones to fit in a suitcase for travel but it took me a couple of hours to get these in the foot pockets. If you want to be able to take fins apart for travel, better get ones with the footpocket and keep your plastic ones with their footpockets for traveling.

    Invaluable upgrade!

Posted by Nick Bohachevsky on Mar 22nd 2016

I originally bought the plastic bladed Competition Freediver fins when I first got into freediving. They are the best value for high quality introductory equipment you can find. But if you get into the sport these blades are a must have. So much easier on the legs with similar propulsion means they are much more efficient, which translates into longer breath hold/depth. Fitting the new blades was easy with the installation kit and video on the site. And all this still at a better price than anywhere else with no loss in quality. Can't go wrong!

    Worth the upgrade

Posted by David B on Dec 16th 2015

I have recently been doing more freediving than spearfishing and wanted to upgrade from my mako plastic blades. I like the mako footpockets so I ordered the medium stiffness pure carbons. I noticed a difference right away with how much less energy I was using going up and down to 100'. I would often get back to the surface without having started contractions which almost never happened using the plastics. I am 6'3 and 185lbs. I was worried the mediums would be too stiff but they are perfect for me. They are a little softer than the plastic blades. Worth the upgrade In my opinion and a great value.

    Carbon fin blades

These are my first set of carbon fiber blades. So in comparison to the plastic ones these are amazing. Felt very little effort was needed to move.

    UnBeatable

These fins are realy responsive and propel you super deep with only minimal effort! Before purchasing the Mako pure carbon blades I was using Mako`s plastic competion blades and let me tell you, words can not discribe the massive leap that the pure carbon blades gave me. Not to mention Makos awsome prices!

    Carbon Blades

Great fins and easy installation. Each kick has much more power and makes every dive easier while using less energy. Although I have only 2 dives in, they seem to have great flexibility leaving your mind at ease while jumping in from shore.
