Exactly what you need at a fair price
I have been using these for the past few years, and I just bought a second set. They hold up well, and they do the job. They are a bit of a bear to thread into the ends of new bands, but I have it figured with a bench vice, liquid soap, and a metal tamp to push it it. The special tool is probably easier, but ... Again these hold up well, and I like them. My first set lasted longer than well used and properly cared for set of bands. I cut them from the old and reinstalled them on the new. You won't be disappointed.
