Yamamoto Reef Camo Wetsuit - 2 Piece Open Cell

Don't let the low price fool you! Yamamoto Neoprene is the best and most expensive neoprene in the world. The reason we can offer these high quality MAKO Spearguns Yamamoto wetsuits for such a low price is because we sell direct to divers, not through dive shops ( See the MAKO DIRECT Story!)

Are you ready for a bold statement? Then here it is:.

NO OTHER SPEARFISHING WETSUIT OFFERS MORE STRETCH, COMFORT, WARMTH AND DURABILITY

Yes. That is a bold statement. But, here's why we can say it:

Yamamoto of Japan neoprene material is regarded as the highest quality wetsuit material among advanced freedivers.

Two years ago, MAKO Spearguns teamed up with YAMAMOTO Neoprene of Japan to make some of the highest quality 2 piece open cell spearfishing suits in the world. The result was our Yamamoto #39 Green Camo 2 piece wetsuits and we quickly became known as a supplier of some of the highest quality wetsuits in the industry, providing superior warmth, comfort and durability.

Our wetsuits are certified by Tomizo Yamamoto (President of YAMAMOTO Corporation) and me (Dano Krahling, President of MAKO Spearguns) to be Genuine YAMAMOTO Neoprene.

Genuine YAMAMOTO Neoprene Certificate

Until recently, it was impossible to improve upon this suit.

Now, a new Yamamoto outer material is available which offers 30 percent more stretch than any other outer material available. We call it Yamamoto "Mega Stretch" and it takes wetsuit technology to a whole new level.

Serious freedivers are especially quick to recognize the increased lung capacity this material provides. Increased lung capacity means increased dive time and peak performance.

The new MAKO Yamamoto #39 Reef Camo 2 pc open cell suit includes:

  • Yamamoto #39 Neoprene: The finest neoprene material in the world.
  • Integrated Ergonomic Hood: Ensures maximum warmth.
  • Knee pads: Real padded material sewn on (not a glued on piece of rubber)
  • Chest loading pad: Real padded material sewn on
  • All seams: Glued and blind stitched for durability
  • Jacket: With integrated hood
  • Integrated knife pocket: This is a huge safety feature.
  • Beaver Tail: Double snaps
  • Selectable Bottoms: High Waist or Farmer Johns
  • Yamamoto "Mega Stretch" Camo Outer Material: This is the improved outer material which makes this the best suit available.
  • Thicknesses: Available in 3mm

HIGH WAIST BOTTOMS OR FARMER JOHNS?
High Waist Bottons or Farmer Johns? You decide. Each suit comes with the Farmer John Bottoms for added warmth. However, if you prefer the High Waist Pants, no problem. We deliberately placed the upper seam in the appropriate spot to allow you, the diver to remove the shoulder straps by following (cutting) just above the strategically placed seam for a perfect and professional looking cut that will not fray. But, don't throw away the newly created tank top. You might want to save it for a chilly day.

NOTE: Open cell suits are 20% warmer than closed cell suits. For example, a 5 mm open cell suit will be as warm or warmer than a 7mm closed cell (nylon lined) suit. The benefits include greater warmth and comfort with less bulk and less lead required to control buoyancy. Serious freedivers prefer these suits because they spend much more time in the water than bottom-time restricted scuba divers.

NOTE: Open cell suits are not put on the same way as closed cell suits. Putting on an open cell suit is fast and easy. However, because the inside of an open cell suit is not lined, you must use a lubricant sprayed inside the suit. We recommend " Suit Slide" a scent free, non petroleum based lubricant designed for Spearfishermen. Once applied, putting on an open cell suit (unlined) is actually faster than putting on a closed cell (lined) suit.

Also, check out Suit Fresh - the first product to clean, remove odors and condition your suit all in one. It is made with organic ingredients. It eliminates odors, uric acids, sweat, salts and sunscreen. EZ sprayer to make cleaning wetsuits fast, effective and easy. Suit FRESH does not require pre-mixing or a multiple step cleaning process.

I'm a bigger guy, have broad shoulders and in the past I had to spend the big bucks on a custom made suit. These MAKO/Yamamoto suits stretch like crazy!!! and give you a custom fit without constricting.

For the frequent diver whose is hard on gear like myself, I gotta say these Yamamoto Mako wetsuits are very warm for the mm thickness and extremely durable against reef snags. Thank you Dano and Mako from all the bigger guys out there for creating a suit that fits us like a glove without the custom price tag.

Yamamoto 7mm two piece open cell wet suit

Posted by Peter Douglas on May 26th 2015

Much easier to get on and off than old lined one piece suit. Chin is too tight. I may tailor it or just let it ride down under my chin. company service very good. I am referring a friend.

Excellent Suit for an excellent price

Posted by Chris Moore on May 26th 2015

Just took my 5mm for its maiden voyage and I didn't even know it was there. Full range of movement, stayed warm the whole time. I prefer to keep my knife on my leg so the pocket is a nice comfortable touch. I'd recommend this suit to anyone.

    So far so good

Posted by Robert Purdon on May 26th 2015

I used this wetsuit for the first time last week in Big Sur Ca and was stoked on it. Easy to get on and off, I bought the 7mm and dove for 2 hours in the 53 degree water and could have stayed in the water for 2 more. I did not get cold once and the flexibility was good too I did not feel restricted by the material. I would definitely recommend this wetsuit especially for that price!

Yamamoto 2 piece open cell wetsuit

Posted by Nathan on May 18th 2015

I bought the 5mm suit for spearfishing and diving in the cold waters of Montana and I love it. It fits excellent and lets in very little water, keeping me very warm. The quality of the suit is great for the price range. Customer service is very good as well. I will be buying more gear from Mako and would recommend them.

    Excellent Service All Around

Posted by Bradley on May 5th 2015

I was hesitant to order gear without seeing the product in real life. But with the help of the sizing sheets and the information I had received through e-mail I was feeling confident with purchasing a wetsuit. Also the product itself is superb. It was very comfortable, it fit like a glove and most importantly it kept me warm. I have recommended Mako Diving equipment to some friends here on Maui and I will continue to do so. Also Dano helped me with the shipping so I got the gear quickly. I felt like a friend and not a faceless customer. Thank you Mako Spearguns!!!

This suit is by far the best suit I have ever had! Took it out for the first time and water temps were at 53 degrees F, I stayed in for 5 hours! I could not believe how warm this suit was!! Very high quality! I could not be happier with the suit or Mako!

    Great Suit Great service

Posted by Josh on Apr 16th 2015

Open cell 5mm is more comfortable than most 2mm suits. Doesn't get particularly hot in the sun out of the water relatively easily to don compared to others I've worn. Had a small issue with my order after it arrived and Dano handled it and fixed the issue that day at no cost. Great customer service

Great wetsuit at a great price

Posted by Matt Warning on Mar 26th 2015

I was a bit concerned about ordering a non-custom suit as I am a tall, thin guy (6'1, 175) and don't quite fit into normal sizes, apart from a medium tall. I contacted Mako, got advice from customer service and ordered a large. It fits great and it just seems incredible to get a Yamamoto suit of great quality at this price. I buy just about all of my freediving and spearfishing gear from Mako now (except the small standard stuff where Mako's shipping costs--I don't get the $10.62 shipping cost even on very small, light packages--often make it cheaper to buy through Amazon Prime).
