The MAKO ULV “ULTRA LOW VOLUME” freedive mask has been our number one selling diving mask. It was designed exclusively for pure freedivers, with an ultra low volume design and wide field of view.

The only way to improve upon this popular mask was to further reduce the volume WHILE STILL MAINTAINING AN OPTIMUM WIDE FIELD OF VIEW!

The MAKO Minimus (aka MINI) does just that. Experienced spearfishermen and pure freedivers know the importance of a low volume mask. They also know the importance of achieving this low volume without sacrificing the field of view. The MAKO Minimus (aka MINI) takes this ratio of Low Volume vs. Field of View to the perfect equation, thus further minimizing the volume while maintaining optimum field of view.

The MAKO Catalina Mask still remains a great choice for divers with larger faces. But, for average size divers wanting to dive deeper than ever before, the MAKO Minimus “Mini” is the dive mask for you.

NOTE: Before using a newly purchased diving mask, it is recommended that toothpaste be applied to the inside of the lens to remove the invisible layer of film that forms on the lens during the manufacturing process.

This invisible layer of film causes the mask to easily fog. Simply apply toothpaste to the inside of the lens, let dry and wipe away. Then, apply a 2nd coat and wipe off with a wet cloth.

This process eliminates the film and will reduce fogging.

Dano Testing Minimus Mask at Deans Blue Hole

Dano at Deans Blue Hole, Bahamas

The first time testing this mask, I reached 147 feet and it was so easy. Instead of using more air to equalize my mask at depth, I used that air for my mouth fills to equalize my ears. This is a totally biased testimonial because I own the company, But, I promise... If you are a hard core freediver, you will love this mask.

    mini mask

Posted by Andrew on Sep 2nd 2015

I was a first time buyer of this company. Off a referral from a friend I gave them a try. I bought the mini mask and at first had trouble with it fogging up. I was contacted by the people at Mako a few weeks after my purchase and they asked how I was liking my new mask. I told them of the issue, and was walked through how to fix it. I was even told the owner wanted to talk to me about figuring this out. I was impressed by their willingness to help resolve an issue after the sale. We got the mask figured out (rookie diver mistake) and I am very happy with it.

    love this mask

I borrowed a Minimus mask from a friend and loved it. I ordered one on the spot and delivery was quick. The mask is comfy, has great field of view for such a small mask. Even the mask box is quality. My wife has the fiberglass fins and loves them....they are comfy and have some of the smallest foot pocket sizes on the market.

    Amazing mask!!!

Posted by Bryan McDermott on Aug 31st 2015

I've been scuba diving off and on since getting certified in 1976. All my dives have had one thing in common... I have had to clear my mask a minimum of three times per dive . After reading Dano talking on scubaboard about how great the minimus mask was I decided to put it to the test (how can you go wrong when they offer to refund the purchase price and pay the return shipping if the mask doesn't work for you?) Well, I made 2 dives today resulting in me having to clear my mask exactly ZERO times. This mask is amazing and the field of view is surprising for such a small mask. Dano has a winner here for sure! PS: I'm 6'3" and 230 lbs. If you told me before this that a mini mask would the best mask I ever dove with, I would have laughed in your face. Boy was I wrong.

    Great mask

Posted by brian engelman on Aug 11th 2015

I think this is the first mask that hasn't leaked around my goatee. The low value makes it very easy to clear and once I got all the gunk off of it it didn't fog. I actually bought 2 of them one for me as a backup to keep in my BCD and one for my son. my sons not getting his this is become my primary mask

    Mystery high value mask gamble

Posted by Kaz on Aug 4th 2015

The Minimus mask is likely modeled after something close to a ScubaPro Scout Scuba Diving Mask (Retail $80). I decided to give this company a try with several of their products and I've been pretty surprised with the value for dollar. The mask in question will reasonably fit you if you have a small/medium face. I've found it seals pretty well for my purposes. One thing I wish this company would do is offer maybe a pricier model with lenses that have coating to them when allows for more contrast under water. That's a luxury though and at this price point id recommend it for anyone looking for a mask that can fit a small/medium face. One complaint I have is that the brand is plastered on the brow of the mask in high contrast silver. I'm all for promotion of this company but I don't like that feature. FINAL VERDICT ----- Would purchase again.

    Great Mask for the Price!

Posted by Watdogg on Jul 27th 2015

I've been using this mask for a few months now. Fits great and no issues with losing the seal. It's also very light and comfortable. The straps seems thin, but are very durable. The rubber nose housing is also great for helping to equalize if needed. Just don't forget the initial defogging with toothpaste.

hooded seal vs no hood seal

Posted by Chunny on Jul 15th 2015

For me, I can't get a good seal while wearing a hooded wetsuit (5mm) because my face scrunches up. However, I can get a good seal in warm water without a hood.
