The MAKO ULV “ULTRA LOW VOLUME” freedive mask has been our number one selling diving mask. It was designed exclusively for pure freedivers, with an ultra low volume design and wide field of view.

The only way to improve upon this popular mask was to further reduce the volume WHILE STILL MAINTAINING AN OPTIMUM WIDE FIELD OF VIEW!

The MAKO Minimus (aka MINI) does just that. Experienced spearfishermen and pure freedivers know the importance of a low volume mask. They also know the importance of achieving this low volume without sacrificing the field of view. The MAKO Minimus (aka MINI) takes this ratio of Low Volume vs. Field of View to the perfect equation, thus further minimizing the volume while maintaining optimum field of view.

The MAKO Catalina Mask still remains a great choice for divers with larger faces. But, for average size divers wanting to dive deeper than ever before, the MAKO Minimus “Mini” is the dive mask for you.

NOTE: Before using a newly purchased diving mask, it is recommended that toothpaste be applied to the inside of the lens to remove the invisible layer of film that forms on the lens during the manufacturing process.

This invisible layer of film causes the mask to easily fog. Simply apply toothpaste to the inside of the lens, let dry and wipe away. Then, apply a 2nd coat and wipe off with a wet cloth.

This process eliminates the film and will reduce fogging.

Dano Testing Minimus Mask at Deans Blue Hole

Dano at Deans Blue Hole, Bahamas

The first time testing this mask, I reached 147 feet and it was so easy. Instead of using more air to equalize my mask at depth, I used that air for my mouth fills to equalize my ears. This is a totally biased testimonial because I own the company, But, I promise... If you are a hard core freediver, you will love this mask.

    Excellent mask. Unbiased customer.

Posted by T. Stewart on Jun 15th 2016

The Minimus is an excellent mask. I believe I have a "normal" shaped face and I weigh in at 165lbs, 5'10. I had tried 3 different Riffe masks and all of them were uncomfortable or leaked. This mask is lightweight, very comfortable, and does not leak. I can definitely say that along with Mako wetsuits, I will be a customer in Mako freedive masks as well. Great stuff Mako--from an unbiased customer.

My first one came damaged. I called up and Dano sent me a brand new one right away. Mask is great now.

I absolutely loved this mask, but I unfortunately lost it the same day I first used it, so I immediately ordered another one the same day!

    Perfect for everything

The silicone is very soft so forms very nicely to your face. Very low volume, yet amazingly wide field of vision. I would wear these for any underwater activity, not just free diving.

Wrong face for the mask, excellent service

Posted by Dimitri Maziuk on Apr 23rd 2016

Edit: my original review was "sorry Dano, I'd love to like this mask, it's streamlined, easier on the nose and has a better field of view than my old one, but: with a reg or snorkel in my mouth, it leaks on me." After seeing that Dano sent me an e-mail and, true to his promise, offered a full refund including the shipping cost. Despite that mask's been used (I tested it in the pool and then took on 5 or 6 dives before giving up on it) and that arguably my failure to check the fit with the reg in my mouth is not the mask's fault. So I still won't give any stars to the mask: I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the mask itself, it's the fit that's wrong. But, Mako spearguns gets five stars for customer service.

    Great mask

Posted by CG on Mar 6th 2016

Replaced my old mask with the mini and I have only good things to say about it. Small, easy access to nose pocket, great field of vision, seals well on my (admittedly small for an adult male) face, and is comfortable to wear.

    My Last Mask Upgrade

Posted by Randy Banning on Feb 22nd 2016

I stumbled on this awesome mask in one of the SB forums. With all the great reviews and nice price, I thought I'd give it a try. I use it for scuba diving and love how much difference it is compared to my other mask. I've taken it on shore dives with and without a wetsuit hood and a snorkel attached without any problems. Shipping wasn't bad, especially to an APO box. I will continue to use this mask until it either breaks or I loose it (only to purchase a new one again).
