Men's Yamamoto 3D Reef Camo Wetsuit - 2 Piece Open Cell

Don't let the low price fool you!

  • I use the exact same high quality factories as the more expensive brands.
  • I use only the highest quality 100% Genuine Yamamoto Neoprene direct from Yamamoto of Japan.
  • NO DIVE SHOP MARKUP! I sell direct to you, instead of through dive shops. So, my prices are much lower!

Yamamoto of Japan neoprene material is regarded as the highest quality wetsuit material in the world.

Our wetsuits are certified by Tomizo Yamamoto (President of YAMAMOTO Corporation) and myself (Dano Krahling, President of MAKO Spearguns) to be Genuine YAMAMOTO Neoprene.

Genuine YAMAMOTO Neoprene Certificate

In addition to using the absolute best Yamamoto Neoprene, the Yamamoto outer material offers 30 percent more stretch than any other outer material available. We call it Yamamoto "Mega Stretch" and it takes wetsuit technology to a whole new level.

Serious freedivers are especially quick to recognize the increased lung capacity this material provides. Increased lung capacity means increased dive time and peak performance.

The new MAKO 3D Reef Camo wetsuit includes the following features:

  • 100% Genuine Yamamoto #39 Neoprene: The finest neoprene material in the world.
  • Yamamoto Super Stretch Nylon outer material: The stretchiest material available, proven to increase breath hold times.
  • Selectable Bottoms: High Waist or Farmer Johns - your choice.
  • Integrated Ergonomic Hood: Ensures maximum warmth.
  • Knee Pads: Real padded material sewn on (not a thin piece of glued on rubber).
  • Chest loading pad: Real padded material sewn on (not a thin piece of glued on rubber).
  • Knife Pocket: This is a huge safety feature that all suits must have!
  • Ergonomic Face Seal: Maximizes comfort and keeps cold water out.
  • Wrist and Ankle Cuffs: Another added feature that keeps cold water out.
  • Beaver Tail: With Durable snaps
  • Thicknesses: Available in mens & women's 3mm, 5mm and 7mm

HIGH WAIST BOTTOMS OR FARMER JOHNS?

High Waist Bottoms or Farmer Johns? You decide. Each suit comes with the Farmer John Bottoms for added warmth. However, if you prefer the High Waist Pants, no problem. We designed the upper seam in the appropriate spot to allow you, the diver to remove the shoulder straps by following (cutting) just above the strategically placed seam for a perfect and professional looking cut that will not fray. But, don't throw away the newly created tank top. You might want to save it for a chilly day.

NOTE: Open cell suits are 20% warmer than closed cell suits. For example, a 5mm open cell suit will be as warm or warmer than a 7mm closed cell (nylon lined) suit. The benefits include greater warmth and comfort with less bulk and less lead required to control buoyancy. Serious freedivers prefer these suits because they spend much more time in the water than bottom-time restricted scuba divers.

NOTE: Open cell suits are not put on the same way as closed cell suits. Putting on an open cell suit is fast and easy. However, because the inside of an open cell suit is not lined, you must use a lubricant sprayed inside the suit. We recommend " Suit Slide" a scent free, non petroleum based lubricant designed for Spearfishermen. Once applied, putting on an open cell suit (unlined) is actually faster than putting on a closed cell (lined) suit.

Also, check out Suit Fresh - the first product to clean, remove odors and condition your suit all in one. It is made with organic ingredients. It eliminates odors, uric acids, sweat, salts and sunscreen. EZ sprayer to make cleaning wetsuits fast, effective and easy. Suit FRESH does not require pre-mixing or a multiple step cleaning process.

    The 7 Completes the Set

Posted by Bottomfeeder on Mar 22nd 2025

I have a Mako 5mm (old camo) that I've had for more than 10 years of regular diving. It's uncomfortably warm above 68 degrees so I bought a 3mm during lock down for summer and love it for 66° and up. The 5mm is great down to 58° but 54° at the surface in the kelp is a bit bone chilling so I finally got the 7mm.... and it is a weird experience to be so toasty warm but not feel my fingers at the end of a 4hr dive because the water is so cold. Awesome suit, better fit too in the new camo despite being a bit roomy in the cankles.

    Men's Yamamoto 7mm

Posted by Dylan on Feb 19th 2025

As a professional hull diver, the quality of my equipment can determine how much i am able to earn. My wetsuits must also be extremely durable and warm as I demand the best performance from my equipment. The 7mm yamamoto is very comfortable, durable, and warm. I like the simple cuts and camo design. The medium is good for a stockier build like I have. Most other wetsuits seem to be made for thinner lankier guys with smaller heads I am extremely happy with my purchase and will buy a 2nd and 3rd to add to my kit.

Mako 7mm Yamamato 3D Camo 2 piece Open Cell Wetsuit

Posted by John Rose on Jan 21st 2025

Great suit as usual from Mako. Super warm and easy to move around in. Compared to traditional suits of this thickness it’s night and day. Normally an 7mm suit would wear you out just bending your arms with how stiff you get. A 7mm Mako open cell design feels like an 3mm to work in, especially in the water. Extremely nice to not get that cold rush when I jump in. Here in eastern Nc my water temp is around an average 43 degrees right now in January and I’m in the water for hours at a time with my job and have yet to get uncomfortable. I’ve owned every thickness of this model and If I could give one con it would be the legs seem to be a bit longer than my other suits.

    Great wetsuit!

Posted by Chad on Jan 4th 2025

I love this wetsuit. It's my third 5mm open cell, and my favorite. The Yamamoto #39 is excellent. Seemed a bit tighter than my others at first, but the materials is so supple and flexible that it works out well in the water. I'm using this in 54f waters, and while my old 5mm were not warm enough, this one does the trick and I haven't had any issues with cold. I'm 5'10" and 155lb and the ML fits me great (even though they'd recommend the M for me, I would not want it any smaller). The pocket is great to have. My only suggestion is: if you can do 1 pocket, why not make it 2, or 4? That way you could have a knife in one and a whistle or other safety gear in another. But great suit and I anticipate sticking with this brand for a while!

    Men's Wetsuit is supreme

I have been using Mako wetsuits for commercial diving for the last 3-4 years. once I started using them I won't use another for diving. So flexible and warm and still durable.

    Amazing!

Posted by Taylor Lawson on Mar 22nd 2024

So far I have been on two dives at a water temperature of 40 degrees F and my 7mm open cell is perfectly comfortable, I can stay in the water all day. Also I love the seal strip on the hood and cuffs as well as the ankles, no water ever shoots into the suit. But u need their gloves and socks with the suit cause without them I could not stay in more than 2 minutes. Also they are not joking when u need suit slide to get in and most importantly getting out! The open cell definitely allows me to move easier and hold my breath longer but it's very sensitive stuff, already have a small cut on the inside. Over all if your looking for a comfortable wet suit this is it

    Very warm, fits well

Posted by Emerson on Oct 13th 2023

I am 6ft with a long torso. Size L wetsuit fits me well. 7mm keeps me toasty in northern california cold waters. I recommend cutting off the farmer johns or getting 5mm if you run hot, I was borderline too warm, needed to flush cold water to maintain my temp.

    Wetsuit Review

Posted by Sean F on Dec 19th 2022

I absolutely let love this wetsuit, especially the cuffs which prevent material tears and water entry. The large fit is perfect for me at 170# 6'0". Currently diving in 58-60 degree water and plenty warm at 3 hours.
