Item Description

MAKO Spearguns El Bajo Freediving Mask

A high performance freediving spearfishing mask must be low volume, have a good field of view and be comfortable.

The El Bajo Freediving Mask is definitely a low volume freedive mask with a surprisingly wide field of view. Our testers tell us the El Bajo freediving mask is COMFORTABLE because the mask provides plenty of clearance at the bridge of the nose, an area thats caused pressure points with other masks.

In fact, testing by some of Americas top freedivers and spearfishermen prove the El Bajo Freedive Mask to be one of the best high performance masks on the market.

"The El Bajo is a low volume mask with what seems to be an almost panoramic view pattern, it's extremely comfortable so you can dive all day without any squeeze"

Defogging Your Freedive Mask

NOTE: Before using a newly purchased mask, it is recommended that toothpaste be applied to the inside of the lens to remove the invisible layer of film that forms on the lens during the manufacturing process.

This invisible layer of film causes the mask to easily fog. Simply apply toothpaste to the inside of the lens, let dry and wipe away. Then, apply a 2nd coat and wipe off with a wet cloth.

This process eliminates the film and will reduce fogging.

    Perfect fit

Posted by Gavin on Feb 22nd 2017

I have a skinny and smaller face and it's been extremely difficult finding a mask that fits me well. Even the Mako Minimus didn't fit quite right and would leak. I recently ordered the the El Bajo mask and took it out for a few days. There was no leaking and it fit great. I don't have to tighten it uncomfortably for it to not leak. This is the first mask I've found that fits me well.

    Finally....

Finally, a super low volume mask that fits properly! I have spent three times as much on several highly-touted masks which will now collect dust.

    awesome view!

most amazing FOV i have ever had in a mask, the lenses sit so close, they curl my eyelashes while wearing it! I like, but it will not likely be my go-to mask, i have a good, pronounced brow-ridge , and it is not comfortable after awhile, but all other aspects are amazing and more than worth the cost. my buddy has an omer version, and this is just as good, and half the price.

    Comfortable, huge nose pocket.

Posted by John Griffith on Mar 9th 2015

So, had to replace my prescription mask after Lasiks...wanted a mask that was low volume, super light and big enough nose pocket to wear my Speedo nose clip. This mask fits all the needs, but I have two issues that are not the mask's fault...wide face and proportions...so the mask seems well suited for a narrower, "European" physiology. I was pushing the sealing limits of the mask skirt on the sides...great mask, and my wife seems to have co-opted it as it fits her great!

    Mako El Bajo Freedive Mask

Posted by kurt williamson on Mar 4th 2015

I have been spearfishing and free diving for years now. During that time I have had to adjust to various types of discomfort associated with certain brands of masks in order to continue practicing my hobby. My current mask is a Naida Asteion Amber Lense mask and truly is a top of the line mask even with the minimal squeeze and pressure at the bridge of my nose. I bought the Bajo Mask in the hopes that it would negate that pressure and squeeze I have been getting every dive. I have yet to take it below 15ft but once I have I will update my review. Straight from the package the mask fit exceptionally well. Plenty of space for the bridge of my nose and only a slight loss of field of view compared to my Naida. I do wish that this mask had tinted lenses but that is preferential and not performance based. Once I got it in the pool for training it performed flawlessly. I hope that the performance carries on into the open ocean. So far, I would give this mask a 5 out of 5.

    El Bajo

I got to use this mask in Costa Rica last week and all I can say is wow! It has a super wide field of vision and equalizing at depth takes basically no air at all. I shot some great fish this trip and couldn't have done it without this amazing mask. Highly recommend it!

I love MAKO products and the service is the top of the line. One of the most giving companies I ever worked with when it comes to servicing. Mako stands behind its products and service when the product is broken it will be fixed or replaced. The price is right for everything your looking for in one store ( One Stop Shop ) When a company is giving you 100% when you need help, who needs another Spear Gun Company. Important words from MAKO always in your e-mail , business or pleasure is ( Dive Safe ) I appreciate everything you do for our free divers and military personal who I work with.
