Item Description

"Ballistic Mesh" Dive Bag

The MAKO Spearguns “Ballistic Mesh” Dive Bag is made exclusively for freedivers. Measuring 42 inches long, it is capable of holding the longest of freedive fins. It is made of a Ballistic Mesh material which is light weight, yet extremely durable. The see through mesh makes accessing your gear fast and easy, even in low light conditions, and it also allows your wet gear to dry out quickly. Also included in this durably constructed bag, is a velcro side pocket for smaller items and the shoulder/hand straps, make for easy carrying.

Warning: We do not recommend using this bag by itself when traveling on airlines. Divers often report stolen gear from their bags when traveling on airlines or in remote destinations.

Helpful Hint: If traveling on an airline, or in remote areas, we recommend using both MAKO gear bags (Freedive Gear Bag and the Ballistic Mesh Dive Bag). As shown in the photo to the right, the gear is stored in the Ballistic Mesh Dive Bag which is placed zipper size down inside the Freedive Bag. Notice the wetsuit and float is facing up with the smaller and the “easier to grab” items are hidden from view. Also note that to access the gear, the inside Ballistic Mesh Gear Bag must be pulled out in order to access the zipper, thus further reducing the possibility of theft. Sure, the mesh could be cut with a knife, but that would bring attention to the theft and it is much less likely.

Another advantage of the two bag system is that the Freediver Gear Bag can used to store personal items as well and be left in the hotel room, while the lighter, mesh bag can be used specifically for the boat or beach dives.

Specifications:

  • 42” long x 16” wide
  • Hand straps double as shoulder straps
  • Rust resistant zippers
  • Durable ballistic mesh material
  • Two zippered end pockets for small items

Mesh Dive Bag fits nicely inside the Freedive Gear Bag when traveling so contents can't be seen (easily taken).

    Tough and expansive

I needed a bag to lug wet gear in easily: From home to car to dock/beach to kayak and back. Once the order arrived, it appeared way too big - huge. It seemed like this would needlessly consume a lot of space. As it turns out, it's super easy to fold in extra material from taking up space, and using your own outside straps help cinch it to keep it from getting unwieldy. The materials are durable and it's got ample space under the carrying straps to lug on a shoulder, too. Easy to hose down/drain, and the end-to-end zipper makes everything accessible. Drawback: Black dive gear tends to blend in with the bag. When you're limited for space on a kayak or other small craft, it be be challenging. And we all own black dive gear... I've used this on two local trips so far and it's added a huge relief and simplification to collect, store and mobilize dive gear, so this has been a boon for my dives. It handily accommodates long fins and implements less than 90cm. Highly recommended!

Holds all my gear, sheds sand, works like a backpack if needed. I like it a lot but I'm gonna get the actual backpack after seeing the quality on this. It's really quite nice.

Huge bag, well made, to include a quality zipper,

Posted by John on Dec 13th 2019

This bag is huge/awesome. I took it on a trip down to NC last week. It was plenty roomy enough for my scuba gear (everything minus tanks, obviously) and had room to spare (I filled the extra space with a couple dozen ~5” Meg teeth). Unlike my previous bag from another source, this one has a good/YKK zipper, so I expect this one to hold up for a while.

The bag was delivered 2 days after ordering it! It is nice and lightweight, which is great for hiking up and down the "goat" trails in Palos Verdes!

    Great price

Large bag. I store mine inside of a large storage bin in my vehicle. Keeps everything in place but also allows your equipment to dry effectively. For the price, you can't go wrong. Great quality investment.
