Best used in conjunction with a strict practice of various yoga exercises designed for the improvement of the elasticity of the ribcage (costovertebral and intercostals joints) as well as the diaphram. Increasing strength in the breathing muscles by itself does not translate into longer breath holds.
Like any resistance training, the muscles worked must be stretched in order to achieve the maximum benefit from the resistance training.
